How to Install the ClamAV Plugin in WHM

ClamAV is a free plugin based on the open source ClamAV engine. You can install this to run scans on the server, or from within each individual cPanel account. See the steps below to install this plugin on your cPanel VPS:

  1. First, you will need to log in to your WHM. The login address for the WHM is https://IPADDRESS:2087 (replacing IPADDRESS with the actual IP address of your server). If you do not know your IP address, continue following these steps
  2. Log in to your client area
  3. Click on Services > My Services
  4. Click the green Active button on your VPS server
  5. On the next screen, you will see the IP address of your server. From here, you will also be able to reset the root password if needed
  6. Log in to your WHM as per the first step above
  7. Under cPanel section, select the Manage Plugins option
  8. Click the checkbox, Install and keep updated, beside ClamAV and then click the Save button at the bottom
  9. Wait until the plugin is installed. You will need to refresh the page after installation to access it
  10. To access the plugin settings, go to Plugins > Configure ClamAV Scanner
  11. You can set the global scan permissions. If you wish to allow all cPanel users to scan their files, then check the checkboxes Scan Entire Home Directory, Scan Mail, Scan Public FTP Space, and Scan Public Web Space. Click the Save button to save your changes

If you have any questions on the above, please do not hesitate to 'Open a Ticket' and we will be happy to advise further.
