Email Not Working Since A Record Change




Often, a DNS record will contain a few entries that point back to the domain itself. After making changes to the A record of the domain (where your website would point to), you might find that your email has stopped working. This can be because your MX record (which dictates where your email is hosted) is set as a CNAME pointing to the domain itself.

To fix this, you will need to create a new zone record for 'mail.' (or edit the existing 'mail.' record) and point it to the server where your mail is hosted. You will then edit the MX record and point it to this 'mail.' record. This will allow you to have independent records for your main A record (where your website is hosted) and your MX record (where your email is hosted).
